KITSLANO MULTIPLEX

This project is a one-to-four residential redevelopment located on a prominent corner lot in Vancouver’s Westside. As the only multi-unit conversion project within this single-family neighborhood, it was designed with the utmost sensitivity to preserve the character and texture of the surrounding community.

To achieve this, the architectural design adopts a Scandinavian style that emphasizes simplicity, functionality, and connection with nature. The building’s massing has been intentionally fragmented to reduce its perceived volume, ensuring it blends harmoniously with the neighborhood’s atmosphere. At the same time, the design incorporates sculptural qualities and a strong visual identity, making it a distinctive yet respectful addition to the area.

The use of clean lines, natural materials, and a palette inspired by the local context helps integrate the project into the existing streetscape while creating a contemporary living environment. Large windows and outdoor spaces foster a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living, while the thoughtful landscaping further enhances the relationship with the natural surroundings.

This project exemplifies a balanced approach to urban densification, offering a modern and sustainable solution that aligns with the community’s character and values.
